Beriev Be-1200 and Be-2500

by Alex Stoll

T

he Beriev Be-1200 and Be-2500 are futuristic projects for very-high lift cargo and passenger amphibians, with the features of a wing-in-ground effect (WIG) vehicle in some configurations. They feature a wide fuselage/wing center section with water-displacing characteristics. The outer wing panels are moderately swept, and two T-tails are fitted to the beams at the side edges of the wing center section. Different engine configurations have been studied, including having four engines mounted above the canards, giving an air-cushion effect under the wing, and the other two pylon-mounted on the wing center section.
